I AM SHELLY VOSS CARLSON.

Lemme tell you, life is sweet, my friend.

I am a Texas-grown traveler—a loyal Abilene local, always antsy for the next adventure.

I am an enamored newlywed, married to her very best friend + co-adventurer.

I’m a “people-person,” as my Mama says. A deeply relational soul. This is my driving value.

I’m an unashamed coffee addict. My thermos might as well be an appendage.

I'm a seminary student, loving every single theology-nerd moment. I am pursuing a call to full-time, vocational ministry. I have a degree in psychology, and I double-minored in English and religion. My heart is in the liberal arts.

I am an outspoken, passionate feminist, and simultaneously the most ardent, devoted of homemakers.

I’m major OCD, Type-A, and a neat-freak to the core…until we’re mid-session. When the flow of a sesh gets ahold of me, I give in, 100%. And love it.

I am a huge talker…No. SeriouslyI LOVE TO TALK. (and talk and talk and talk…) And hey, while we're talking, let's for sure go grab some coffee, because, obvs.

I’m a girl who’s major in touch with her emotional side. So don’t be surprised when this feeler cries her way through your vows, or your baby’s first breath, or whatever precious, beautiful thing you do in front of my camera. Fair warning.

I’m a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend. I’m a mama-hearted woman, and an inspired artist.

I am a lover of good, authentic stories. Every. Single. Time. TV, movies, books, people. I believe our story is the most valuable thing we have.

I’m a believer in fierce, deep, life-changing love. In every season; in every form.

I believe life is meant for loving.

And I believe that love is worth documenting.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

My love for photography began when I went from being an only child to an oldest child at 3 years old. I was all about snappin’ shots of baby bro. By the time I was 7, and baby brother #3 had arrived, my mom was so very over nervously watching me handle her Canon that she bought me my very own Barbie-pink Polaroid.

I decided to turn my love into a profession a little over a year ago, the day my now-husband and I got our engagements back. As I looked through the beautiful images (captured by the immensely talented Allison Harp), I felt the weight of the meaning they held for me. I saw the essence of our love and life captured and I just thought, “I want to make other people feel this way."

KNOWN. SEEN. CELEBRATED.

That’s what this is all about for me.

Your love matters. It’s what makes you who you are. Who and what you love is the most important thing about you.

Whatever season; whatever form… your love is beautiful.

It captures me.

And I wanna capture it right back.

This is so. much. more. than a just a job to me.

I believe in what I do.
